This tradition originated in Germany when brewing in the summer was banned there. So in the month of March (Märzen) they brewed a good-life beer that was stored underground. With our modern methods and techniques, we no longer have to brew a special shelf-stable beer. But because we find it so delicious, we celebrate the new spring every year with this delicious beer.
