Grand’Italia pasta is produced in southern Italy. The pasta is made from semolina in other words wheat groats, derived from durum wheat (grano duro). In order to guarantee the right quality, the wheat is 100% ground in our own mill. The use of durum wheat leads to a firm paste that gives a perfect ‘al dente’ bite.
The invention of the dish lasagna, or laganon, was a milestone in the history of Italian pasta, claims a first-century historian. At that time, the lasagna consisted of layers of dough baked with fillings of meat or fish in between. Centuries later there are countless different varieties, but the best known is the one with ragù and besciamella sauce.
