Van Wijngaarden bv is a family business located in the Zaanstreek. Started in 1929 with the trade in vegetable oils, the company started making mayonnaise in the late fifties of the twentieth century based on the oil that was traded. A high oil content (80%) and a sophisticated balance of water, egg yolk and herbs created a unique and recognizable taste: full and creamy and with a slightly pleasant acidity. This recipe has come to be known as the Zaan mayonnaise and is still made today according to the traditional recipe from the last century. The Van Wijngaarden family has thus made an important contribution to the manufacturing industry from which we know the Zaan region. Zaan mayonnaise is a household name throughout the Netherlands and far beyond.
