Djintan is ground seed of the 1-year-old cumin plant. It gives a fresh smell, is not sharp in taste and is widely used in Indonesian and Indian cuisine. Even outside asian cuisine, cumin powder is not entirely unknown. For example, it is an indispensable ingredient in many Chili con carne and couscous recipes. Djintan is one of the four varieties of dried herbs of Go-Tan. In addition to djintan, there is also ketoembar (ground coriander), Laos (ground galangal root) and djahe (ground ginger root). These four types of dried herbs can be combined well. Together they are, for example, indispensable for the well-known dish rendang daging
